Before I even begin to review 599fashion, there are a couple of things you guys need to know about my shopping tendencies. First, I end up buying lots and lots of white even when I’m planning not to. And second and most important, I’m a sucker for great deals! Not exactly cheap, no (although, who am I kidding? I can be really cheap at times), but generally, I’m willing to pay the right price for the right quality. BUT, I’m a frugal shopper, the complete opposite of those maniacal impulsive shoppers who salivate every time they see a “New In” sign.

I’m a rather thoughtful shopper and will wait out until I get EXACTLY what I’m looking for, and I don’t like throwing away my money.  Not that anyone in their right mind does, and at this point, I’m just rambling away. Good deals, in my mind, are not just about cheap clothing; they’re about paying a price lower than what you’d normally expect to pay. And that is exactly where www 599fashion com held my attention.

Is 599fashion legit?

I’m also a very meticulous person and obsessive about details. I like to do my research before I shop at a place. So when 599fashion claimed that the most expensive piece of clothing on their website costs $9.99 only, my Sherlock instincts rose to action. I must admit, I was wary, suspicious, and maybe even downright disbelieving of their claims. Or, if true, I expected their products to be extremely low quality, in which case, count me out always. I might be cheap but my clothing isn’t!

So I went looking for answers on their site and found them, quite literally! On their “About Us’ section, they address the concerns of suspecting individuals like me (and at that point they seemed like Sherlock and me, Watson). They clarify concerns about their clothes and accessories as being either used or defective and explain that their ridiculously low prices are the result of sourcing from local manufacturers. But what restored my faith in them is the fact that they’ve been in the fashion retail business for 15 years (call me old school), and have previously operated as a chain of stores in Los Angeles before moving their business entirely online, which, as they say, is another reason for their prices being so low.

So far so good. Now that I knew I wasn’t dealing with scammers, it was time to check out the actual goods and find out first hand, how far their claims of providing quality fashion at affordable prices held ground.

My first thought was, I’m not sure about the logo, but that’s just my OCD speaking. The e-commerce website design is clean and does a great job at highlighting their USP of price point. They also have pictures of some of their best products on the homepage so you get an idea of what is available inside. From a personal point of view, from what I see on the homepage, I want to explore more. All the while thinking in my head, “All this for just $9.99 and less!”

Navigation through the site is also extremely convenient and the categories are up on the menu in simple, readable fonts. Because as much as I love a beautiful, aesthetically designed e-commerce website, some brands take it too far and it is so damned difficult to figure out which option does what!

The other thing to notice is, their stock is HUGE! It’s not just a capsule collection of some tank tops and leggings you’ll find for that price but actual real clothes like dresses, jeans, bodysuits, and shoes! It literally made me think if shoes were available for sourcing at that price, maybe I should start myself a reselling business. But I digress.

They also cater to niche categories like sleepwear, lingerie and plus sizes. But wait, that’s not all. They stock menswear too, but what was spectacularly surprising was that kidswear and pet care stuff too! Very aww-inducing, but very convenient too, if you think about it. I guess what I’m trying to emphasize on here is that even though it is a low-priced shopping place, it is still a well-rounded, all-inclusive store, maybe even more than some other higher-priced ones. So you don’t really have to compromise on a convenient shopping experience even when buying inexpensive products. And so now it’s time to evaluate that shopping experience.

599fashion review – pros

Price –Without the least doubt, this has to be the first attraction. I mean the entire store is placed within a price which is the starting point for most other websites. Or the sale section on those websites. When navigating my way through, I deliberately looked for the fanciest of their clothes and shoes, like a velvet lace-up dress or the satin slip dresses and the heels, and they were all still $9.99 or below. No hidden “conditions apply” anywhere. There is even this pair of boots with all-over buckle details that is just for $5.99! How I talked myself out of buying boots worth only $5.99 is something I’m still trying to wrap my head around.

You’d think a site that sells products at sale prices wouldn’t require a sale section but they have one! So your inexpensive products get even more inexpensive. They also have this 99 cent section which comprises jewelry like faux stone and faux pearl earrings and stone-studded bracelets and at this point, I’m like, Stop, why are you being so nice to me, what’s your ulterior motive? But drama aside, it is freakishly great to see a wide selection of products priced that way. So my first reason to shop here, is most definitely, the price range.

Quality –Here’s where things get interesting. When you shop on a lower budget, you’re mentally prepared to compromise on the quality. At least, if you’re in a sane mind. With 599fashion, you do, but not as much as expected. I mean, we shop for similar clothes and shoes in Forever21 all the time for a price much higher than this and the quality isn’t even that great. Compared to that, the clothes at 599fashion deliver pretty well on the quality level. Especially when you take into consideration their throwaway prices.

Of course, some of you might not like it as much, and personally, I’d probably skip on a few items on the site just because I don’t like the make, even if they were being offered for a mere dollar (which, in many cases, they are!). But I see a lot of people complaining just about anything these days. Like they will pay a fraction of the price but expect top notch quality. What’s up with that! 599fashion is strictly a hub for affordable clothing. Expecting anything more is sheer stupidity. On those grounds, the quality of their products is pretty commendable.

Variety –Probably should have placed this over the quality. As mentioned earlier, they have a wide selection of products, from clothes to accessories to beauty. And clothes include legit denim and casual and evening dresses, not just basic wear. And then they have lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear, and activewear –basically covering the full spectrum of all you need when shopping for apparel. There are shoes, jewelry, bags and the target customer includes men, women, kids and your little pooch too. It’s great to have an affordable option for all kinds of clothing.

Trends –Don’t let yourself buy the idea that products as cheap as these would not hold up on the trend meter! From the omnipresent velvet bodycon dresses to the effervescent satin slip dresses and the ripped leggings, the clothes here are all caught up on trends including athleisure. Even the shoes are both pretty and trendy-looking, not your run-of-the-mill flip flops. It’s a big plus for people like us because we don’t just buy clothes, we buy trends!

Sizing – 599fashion has many American-made items, sourced from LA, which makes it a plus in the sizing department. Often, in a bid to shop latest trends at affordable prices, we tend to rely on products from China or elsewhere, and the sizing turns out all wrong, leading to a torturous process of returns and refunds.  That’s where 599fashion is a one up over other foreign alternatives.

599fashion review – cons

Yes, there are always cons. If not, somebody is lying. I have a few complaints, although the positives outweigh the negatives in the overall balance sheet.

Sells really fast –My God do they disappear fast! Stuff flies off their virtual racks and understandably so since their prices are so low. That is mildly disappointing because it means you have to immediately buy what you like or you might not get them at all.

Shipping –No free shipping for you here. Of course, I understand one can’t get everything after all. But it’s like if you bought a $5 worth item, you’d have to pay $5.75 for shipping! That’s disheartening. Because you would want to shop a $5 product sometime. That’s why you’re on their website in the first place! But if you looking to get few items at the same time, they have free shipping on orders over $35. All you have to do is sign up to 599fashion mailing list.

All in all though, 599fashion has my upvote. It solves a great problem for college goers who’re short on cash and even for people who don’t believe in paying too much on clothes when they could spend that money on other more important things. Plus, they don’t try to push bad quality stuff with the excuse of reduced prices either. They are not the only players in the field though, and there are websites like 599fashion (Clothing Under 10, 1015 Store, to name a few) that work around the same concept. But, the more the merrier, right?

How to Wear a Blanket Scarf Ideas and Tips

Just to be clear, this post is not about wearing a blanket and a scarf as separate entities, it’s about how to wear a blanket scarf, you know those scarves that are humongous enough to also use like a blanket. Although if you want it, I could also do a tutorial on how to be snug in your blanket (cats will be involved FYI). Or not. Whatever.

So if you’ve just bought yourself one of those pretty scarves that are large enough to plonk a picnic group on, because they looked so cute on Olivia Palermo, this tutorial should be helpful. So far if you’ve been struggling with the drapes, and are now thinking you have no idea how to wear an oversized scarf, I got your back. I know, the allure of the comfort that blanket scarves provide is difficult to resist. But it’s important to know how to wear a rectangle blanket scarf in a chic way to avoid looking like a homeless you-know-what addict.

I’ll walk you through the different steps and ideas of how to wear a blanket scarf in the next 5 minutes. Try to stay warm until then.

How to tie a blanket scarf

Okay, first up, let’s tame that monstrous piece of fabric. With so much volume and length, you could get totally overwhelmed in the style, especially if you’re a petite girl like me. Here are 10 different ways to tie a blanket scarf that should make it look like a scarf and not a blanket. Also, keep in mind that I name my styles the best way I can remember them so don’t go looking for these terms on Google. You’ll only find pretzels and spaghetti in the results. Possibly.

How to wear a blanket scarf –Basic knots and loops

The no-knot simple loop –Bunch up the scarf lengthwise and simply drape it around your neck twice to create a loop around the neck with the end of the scarf hanging on the front.

The classic loop – Fold the scarf diagonally to create a triangle. Then twist the triangle length-wise to form a thick roll of fabric that is pointier at the ends. This makes the amount of fabric more manageable. Now fold the scarf into half its length and take the loose ends and pull them in through the other looped end, like you would with a stole, draping it around the neck.

The one side knot –Roll the scarf lengthwise and drape it around your neck. Now take one end and make a knot, tightening it to secure close (but don’t choke on it!) around the neck. Shift the knot over to one side of your neck, letting one end of the scarf fall to your back and the other end hang in the front.

The infinity loop –Folding the scarf diagonally and then rolling it into, well, a roll, tie the very ends to make it look like a huge ring (“ring of roll”; what is life?). This goes around your neck multiple times to create that turtle-neck effect that is the most convenient because it keeps us warm like scarves should normally do.

The partial loop –This looks part like the one side knot and part like the infinity loop. Take the aforementioned role of the scarf and drape it across the neck with one long end hanging on the front. The other end, instead of going back, goes around the neck in multiple loops (as much as the fabric allows), so you have both the comfort of a loop and the casualness of an overhung scarf. Win win!

The Bandana style –Start with the diagonally folded triangular scarf again. Take the pointy ends and tie them around your neck. It should look like a Bandana in the front (of course) but since it’s a blanket scarf and not a Bandana, the ends are long enough to come back on the front. Tuck them under the triangle to make the Bandana style clearly visible.

The Bandana style knotted –From the Bandana style described earlier take the ends and tie them again in the front and this time, tuck the triangle under the knot, so the result is chunkier with the knots showing. It’s also understandable if all this Bandana and triangle talk is making you crave an adventurous holiday at Bermuda.

The multiple knots style –It is easy to take the Bandana style and transform it into the multiple knot style by adding –you guessed it –multiple knots. Twist the scarf into loops and eights and you’ll end up with a very knotty style that works great because there’s a lot of fabric to play with.

The loose, linear style –A very classy and fuss-free tutorial on how to wear a blanket scarf would be to simply sling it lengthwise around your neck and let it hang loose on the front, basically making my job of tutoring easier. But also because it’s a great style to go with long overcoats and dusters.

The loose, linear and belted style –If you want to get a little extra with the previous style, simply cinch in with a slim belt at the waist. It will also help secure the scarf in place.

How to wear a blanket scarf in different styles

A scarf doesn’t have to be strictly, a scarf. If you clip your regular bra straps to wear with a backless dress when you run out of strapless bras (instead of just buying the damn thing), you’re cheap like me, and you know what I’m talking about. A blanket scarf is perfect for many fashion hacks, so let’s talk about how to wear an oversized scarf in styles other than that of a scarf.

How to wear a blanket scarf like a poncho

Besides the loop style, another way to make sure your picnic blanket of a scarf works overtime is by making it look like a poncho. Or a cape. Whatever you kids are calling it these days. Take the triangle-shaped scarf and drape it across your shoulders letting the pointy ends hang out front. You could either opt to tie the ends or add a belt to secure the waist.

How to wear a large scarf shawl

Another fabulous way of working that scarf is to wear it like a shawl (it’s called a blanket for a reason). Either just drape it loosely across your body and channel the IDGAF attitude, or fold it lengthwise into half the thickness and then drape it across the body. But you still need the IDGAF swag. And then go play with knots and belts and even other accessories like faux fur collars to really make the look stand out.

How to wear a large silk scarf

If your blanket scarf is made of a lightweight fabric like silk, ditch the clothes, just wear the scarf, because who needs clothes when you have a giant mass of silk? Kidding. Or am I?

General instructions on how to wear a large rectangular scarf have already been enlisted above but for a silk scarf, you could opt to wear it as a cover-up on the beach or even make a Grecian drape that will make it look like a flowing maxi dress. Definitely add a belt here and lots of dangly earrings for a complete Bohemian chic look. Silk-made scarves are also the best scarves to be worn with lady-like dresses, both midi, maxi or sheath.

How to wear a blanket scarf with different outfits

What you choose to pair with your blanket scarf is what ultimately decides how fashionable or otherwise you’ll end up looking. Let’s talk about what clothes to wear with a blanket scarf because it’s essential, but mainly because I’m looking for a reason to clean out my wardrobe (lazy, messy girl alert).

The holy trinity of jeans, cardigan (or pullovers) and boots –You can never go wrong with this classic combination. This combo is to the scarf what thin crust is to pizza –perfect base!

Leggings and long overcoat –This is a really polished look, and if you’re the kind that spills food on your clothes often (Whaddup personal reference!) it stays polished ‘cuz the scarf catches the morsels! Seriously though, a long scarf just casually slung over an overcoat is very Parisian chic.

Miniskirt and thigh high boots –Don’t dismiss scarves for accessories that just go with jeans. You can take the already-popular miniskirt and thigh high boots combo and elevate it further with a blanket scarf tied in an infinite loop.

A little black dress –You wear that LBD every time because you love it so much, but you’re fidgety each time because it looks the same. Change that by draping a scarf over your dress like you would a pashmina and see that dress transform. Of course, that would mean you’ll wear it even more often now.

Overalls and sneakers –Sporty and wintry? That’s practically my look for the whole of Fall! Comfortable and very this-moment stylish, this athleisure look gets a feminine twist with the draping of a scarf.

Didn’t like that:

All is not hunky dory here though, and these Skechers boots have had frequent size issues reported. They’re often either too big or too small, and it becomes a hassle exchanging them repeatedly.
Either due to the leather or the shaft height or a combination of both, the boots feel stiff around the ankles at first and may bruise the legs, but over time, they should get more comfortable. Or it could be a case of wrong sizes, in which case, get them exchanged.

Last but definitely not the least, rather one of the biggest selling points, the price! For the make and functionality that they offer, the price is rather cheap and that makes them not just good cheap work boots but a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, so you don’t have to get your expensive boots out each time.

On the flipside, the quality does suffer a bit and to get utmost comfort out of these, you might have to buy gel-based insoles separately.
Because of the quality again, the shelf life won’t match up to the higher priced boots in this list, and will give way to constant wear and tear, but that is always a downside to lower priced products.

Expect to find light grays and greens and taupe (they call theirs “Bone”) and if you’re invested in fashion like me, you’ll love that you don’t have to compromise on durability (after all, that’s their primary function) for good-looking boots.
There are specific features like a shaft height that ends right at the ankles and heavy padded collars that targets better fit and added comfort for the wearer and comfort is one of the most noticeable experiences you will have with your Timberlands.

Didn’t like that:

Although it varies from person to person, there might be size issues which few customers who have reported, also suggesting ordering their boots half a size smaller for the most accurate fit. You might want to keep that in mind!

1. These are the real enemies and are particularly tough to remove. Dip your suede brush in warm water and scrub the surface vigorously.
2. Cornstarch or talcum powder is also known to be helpful. Sprinkle some over the stains and let dry overnight. The next day, brush off the powder and moisten the stained area in a steamer or with a steam iron to open up the pores which make the cleaning easier. Finally, use your brush or eraser to rub off the stain.
3. If using the steam method, don’t forget to let the shoes (or bag or jacket) to completely dry before use.

How to Clean Suede Shoes : Ink/ Wine/ Blood stains and Salt marks

1. Ink stains are best dealt with alcohol; use cotton balls dipped in alcohol to wipe away the stains. It could also require some scrubbing with a brush or eraser.
2. For wine stains, first, blot out the excess wine. Next, make a solution with mild soap and lukewarm water and dip a soft brush or sponge in, using it gently to scrub off the stain. Then clean the soap with a damp cloth and let dry.
3. To remove blood stains, peroxide comes handy. Apply with a cotton ball until the sain fades.
4. One part vinegar mixed with two parts water is also helpful for getting rid of stubborn stains, especially salt lines either on your jacket or any other outfit made from suede leather or fabric.

How to Clean Suede Shoes : Wax or chewing gum

1. Chewing gums stuck on shoes are a common hassle but can be removed by freezing the affected shoe for a few hours. This will harden up the gum which should break off in chunks.
